Myrtle Anna Tucker Brown, daughter of Otis Knight and Roxie Hubbard Tucker, was born on November 25, 1907 in Hardin County. She departed this life on May 23, 2009, at the age of 101 at Tri-County Healthcare. On January 1, 1922 she was united in marriage to Dewey Dixon Brown and together shared forty seven years, before his passing on June 20, 1969. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Monroe, Clarence and Arthur Tucker, four sisters, Mary Shelby, Maude Franks, Ethel Harrison and Irene Couch. From her family she is preceded in death by a son, Gaston Brown and son-in-laws, Leon Nabors, Sr., Hurley Miller, Detrois Johnson; daughters-in-law, Charlyne Brown and Betty Brown; step-grandson, Leon Nabors, Jr.; great-grandson, James Allen Swearingen. Those family members who continue in her loving memory include eight of her children and spouses. Her four sons, Mr. James Brown of The Woodlands, Texas, Mr. Billy O. Brown of Florence, Alabama, Mr. George Brown and wife Ann of Jackson, Tennessee, Mr. Robert Brown and wife Nancy of Memphis, Tennessee. Her four daughters, Mrs. Ruth Nabors of Collierville, Tennessee, Mrs. Mary Jo Johnson and Mrs. Bettye Miller both of Savannah, Tennessee, Mrs. Wanda Kay Calvert and husband Mike of Jackson, Tennessee; daughter-in-law, Hazel Brown of Brentwood, Tennessee. Other family includes fifteen grandchildren, Cherry Damianoff, Martha Swearingen, Judy Boehm, Donna Ford, Carolyn Stankaitis, Kathy Caudillo, Jimmy Johnson, Tommy Johnson, Tony Brown, Todd Brown, Julie Brown, Suzan Corder, Kirk Brown, Will Calvert, and Wesley Calvert ; twenty-one great-grandchildren and spouses, eleven great-great-grandchildren, one step-grandchild, seven step-great-grandchildren, and nineteen step-great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Brown lived most of her life in Hardin County in the Big Ivy and Nixon communities and lived several years in Ramer, Tennessee. She was an active member of the Home Demonstration Clubs, worked as a cook at Nixon Elementary School, and in her later years was involved with the Senior Citizens Club, and RSVP volunteer. Myrtle Brown made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a dedicated member of Wesley's Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved everyone. We celebrate her life and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.
