Margaret "Peg" Abbott, 80, of Gloversville, died Tuesday at home following a brief illness.
She was born on Aug. 22, 1920 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Archibald T. and Edna Royce Fear.
She was a homemaker. She was well-known for her volunteer work at Lexington Center.
She was a member of the Mental Health Association of Fulton County. She was formerly named Woman of the Year by the Association for Retarded Children. She was a member of the Ida McGinnis Senior Citizens, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Auxiliaries.
She taught Sunday school many years at the First Presbyterian Church and the First Congregational Church of Gloversville.
She was married on June 8, 1940 to James A. Abbott, who died in July 2000.
Burial will take place at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.
