The death of A. A. Burgard occurred at his home at 1220 South 34th Street, Kansas Side on February 13th, 1918. He was 59 years old and had been a resident of Wyandotte County since his birth. He was twice elected a member of the Kansas Legislature.

Besides his widow, Mrs. Sarah Burgard, he leaves five daughters, Mrs. Nick A. Pacitti, Mrs. Frank H. Herr, Mrs. Guy Kanatzar, Misses Helen and Elizabeth Burgard, A.A. Burgard Jr., Harold Burgard and Otto B. Burgard, U.S. Marine now in France with the American Expeditionary forces. He also leaves one brother, Otto Burgard, of San Francisco, California, and five sisters, Mrs. M. Kelley, Mrs. James Graham and Mrs. John O'Connell of Kansas City, Missouri, Mrs. Joseph McSweeny of Meeker, Colorado, and Mrs. Frank M. Holcomb of Kansas side.

The funeral was held on Saturday morning at St. John's Catholic Church with the Rev. L. J. Beck officiating. Interment was made in St. Joseph's Cemetery at Shawnee, Kansas.
