OBITUARIES
The Chanute Tribune,
August 14, 1961

John E. Bodin, 84, 316 N. Washington, died yesterday at 4 p.m. at Neosho Hospital where he had been a patient the past three days.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bodin, he was born in Sweden Nov. 2, 1876, and came to America with his parents in 1880. They settled in the Vilas community. He was married to Jennie Waugh Aug. 28, 1927, in Coffeyville, and they made their home in the Vilas community for 18 years. In 1945, they moved to Chanute, where they had since lived. He was a member of the United Brethren in Christ church.

Survivors are his wife, of the home: two sisters, Mrs. Alfreda Riley, 426 W. 2nd, and Mrs. Emma Hanson, Overland Park; one brother, William Bodin, Lawrence and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at the United Bretheren Church in Christ, Wednesday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. C. E. Rains officiating. Burial will be in the Vilas Cemetery. The Roy S. Gibson Funeral Home is in charge.
