Harold Overvig, age 84 of Osakis died on Monday, January 28, 2008 at the Community Memorial Home in Osakis, MN.

On May 12, 1923 Harold Jerome Overvig was born to Joel and Helga (Langlie) Overvig in Bergen Township, McLeod Co., MN. He grew up on a farm near Maple Lake and served his country during WWII in the US Army. After the war, Harold returned to marry his sweetheart, Harriet Johnson at the Salem Lutheran Church in rural Osakis. They made their home in Columbia Heights where Harold took work as a machinist. After retiring, they moved back to a home near Maple Lake where he had grown up. Harold opened a machine shop at his place called H & H Machine. They moved into the Manor Apartments in Osakis and then to the Terrace Heights Assisted Living apartments when his health started to decline.

Harold was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church and was very active singing in the church choir and with the Gordon Men's Chorus. He belonged to the Little Sauk Legion and always took in the annual service reunion that was held for his Army Company. Harold loved nature and being outdoors. He went deer and pheasant hunting each fall. He liked to golf and was also a baseball fan. During the winter months he enjoyed going bowling and playing cards, especially cribbage. Harold enjoyed people and made friends where ever he went.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Harriet Overvig of Osakis; a brother, Orville & Betty Overvig of Long Prairie; his sisters, Blanche Konzak of Osakis, Hazel Ecklund of Shakopee and Alice Olson of Sauk Centre; several nieces and nephews and a brother-in-law, Johnny Johnson.
