Henry Crawford, 8, pioneer farmer of Burleigh county, died at 2:40 a.m. Monday at a local hospital from complications of old age.
Coming to North Dakota from Canada in 1879, Mr. Crawford homesteaded a claim south of Bismarck, where he lived for 22 years before coming to Bismarck. After retiring from active farming he served for many years as a janitor at the capitol building, giving up his duties when his health failed.
Mr. Crawford was born November 8, 1848, at Quebec, Canada. He was married to Miss Ellen McCormick while there and the couple came to this state in 1879. Shortly after moving here his first wife died and he married Miss Mariam Thompson at Montreal, Canada. His second wife died in 1925. For the last three years Mr. Crawford has been living with his son, John Crawford, on his son's farm south of Bismarck.
He leaves four sons and one daughter. They are, besides John, Henry of Bismarck, George of Harvey, Herbert of Mandan and Mrs. Oscar Sundquist of St. Paul. He also leaves 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. All of the children are expected to be here for the funeral.
Funeral services have been tentatively been set for some time Wednesday. Interment will be made in the St. Mary's cemetery.
