Note the words "near Lonaconing", it is not the same as being born in Lonaconing. Garrett County, MD was formed from Allegany County in 1872. Both his obituaries and death certificate state that he was born in Garrett County, MD. One obituary states that he was born in Firm Rock, Garrett County, MD. I could not find Firm Rock on Google maps or on any historical maps online. I entered that he was born in Garrett County, in the absence of any birth, baptism or bible records.
