Services will be today for Arthur A. Lenroot, a longtime Oakmont resident who had served 12 years in the Wisconsin state senate. He was 85 when he died Tuesday at Warrack Hospital of complications from a stroke.

He was born in Superior, Wis., and served in the state senate from 1942 to 1954. He was appointed to be state director of the Federal Housing Administration, a post he held from 1954 to 1958.

He left government to become chief underwriter and a board director of Mortgage Guarantee Insurance Corp. in Milwaukee, working for the company from 1958 until retirement in 1974.

He and his wife, Ellie, moved to Oakmont that year and became active in the retirement community. He was an avid golfer and served on the board of directors of the Oakmont Village Association.

He also was active in the Catholic Church and in organizations devoted to supporting victims of crime. He also was a founding member of the Kiwanis Club in Oakmont.

In addition to his wife, he also leaves two sons, a daughter, eight grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today at the Star of the Valley Catholic Church, 545 White Oak Drive. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Minneapolis. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Home Hospice of Sonoma County, 1110 N. Dutton Ave., Santa Rosa, 95401.
