Anna Maria was the daughter of Georg Schrogel and Margaretha Schatz and the wife of Adam Kottel. After her husband's death, Anna Maria and their six children came to America to keep the children from entering the army. They sailed for America aboard the ship "Young Sam", leaving the port of Bremen, Germany, and arrived in the United States on July 1, 1857.
