Drafted in late 1777 (Revolutionary War) in Albemarle County, VA, in a Company commanded by Captain Isaac DAVIS.

In a letter to the Jackson Standard Journal, dated 2 July 1913, by C. A. Lackey from Hampton, Virginia, we read, "In your honor roll of Revolutionary soldiers ….. I give you the name of David Keeton who served as a soldier of our independence. His body lies buried in an unmarked grave about one half of a mile east of what is known as the Dupre ford across Little Racoon creek (a bridge is there now) Huntington Township, Gallia County, Ohio, near the road which trends from Richard Bros. store to Vinton."

----

David was drafted on three occasions during the Revolutionary War. He served 6 months each tour. The first tour was during the winter of 1777 being drafted from Albemarle County, VA. He served in a variety of logistical assignments guarding wagons, transporting prisoners, guarding prisoners, building barracks and pursuing Tories in NC. His total service time was one and a half years with his last tour from Patrick County (Henry County), VA. He resided in Patrick County about twenty-two years after the Revolutionary War before moving to Huntington Township, Gallia County, Ohio. This would have put him in Ohio sometime after 1805 (probably about 1807 by historical reports), but before 1810. He filed for a military service pension from Ohio in August 1832. He was 76 years old at that time. According to his pension file, he died 4 September 1838. The Pension department was notified of his death on 19 July 1839. [Pension Claim S2685]. Military pension, $60 per annum, commencing 5 Dec 1832.

Sold land in Patrick County, VA, on 26 August 1806, probably in preparation for move to Gallia County, Ohio.

Married Anna Poore (1st wife), Patrick County, VA, probably about 1787/88. Daughter of George Poore, Sr.
