William Andrew "Bill" Ball 73 of Dumas, Texas died Wednesday October 11, 2000.

Services will be at 11 AM today in First Baptist Church with the Rev Dan Turner Music Consultant for Baptist General Convention of Texas officiating and the Rev Roger Orr Minister of Missions of the church assisting. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors.

Jim was born in Fort Worth grew up in Arlington and moved to Dumas in 1947. After serving with the Navy during World War II he attended the University of Arkansas flight school. From 1949 until 1956 he was a Department of Public Safety trooper in Moore County being the first assigned Trooper in Moore County. He was a member of the Texas State Pistol Team. He worked for Prudential Insurance and retired as an operator from Phillips Petroleum in 1989.

Jim married Frankie Murphy in 1950 at Dumas.

Survivors include his wife Frankie; a son Jim Ball of Dumas; a daughter Julie Hudson of Brownfield; a brother Edwin Ball of Roswell, New Mexico; a sister May Lee Rollow of Portland, Oregon; and five grandchildren.
