After living more than a century, Judson Harmon Young departed this life on September 3, 2011. He was born in Floyd County on May 15, 1910. He was the last of 11 children born to the late Henry and Betsy Young. He lost his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Ruth Flinchum Young, on July 27, 2000. Seven brothers and three sisters also preceded him in death. He is survived by his four children, Loretta Y. Crawford and husband, Gary, Wagner Young and wife, Dana, Eddie Young and wife, Mary, and Debra Young and husband, Blaze. Survivors also include five grandchildren, Theron Lester and Lori Lester, Wes Young and wife, Lisa, Kellie Wilkinson and husband, Chris, and Brandon Young and wife, Carrie. Also surviving are four great-grandsons, Trevor and Bradley Young, Braxton Gill and Jaxson Young; one sister-in-law, Blanche Kanode of Christiansburg. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends from Floyd and the New River Valley. Mr. Young lived a long and fruitful life, staying active into his mid 90's. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and working in his yard and garden. He was an active member of the Indian Valley Presbyterian Church. He retired from Hercules after 32 years of service, receiving many awards for years of perfect attendance. The family would like to thank Highland Ridge Rehab and the Mountain Valley Hospice for their help and support during their father's lengthy illness. The family is being served by the Devilbiss Funeral Home in Radford and will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening. The funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. at the Indian Valley Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Gerald Phillips and the Rev. Gary Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at the Captain George Quesenberry Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Indian Valley Bible Fellowship Church (formerly Indian Valley Presbyterian Church) c/o Lloyd Flinchum, 229 Byrd Lane, Willis VA 24380.
