Sandy Patrick Knowland age 56 of La Plata, Md. died August 27, 2011. He was born on May 29, 1955 in Kokomo, Indiana to the late Norval and Holly Knowland. He is also predeceased by his stepson Christopher Gossen.

He is survived by his wife Margaret "Margie" Knowland , daughter Holly Marie Knowland of La Plata, Md., brothers Michael Knowland of Maple Shade, NJ, Timothy Knowland of Galveston, Indiana, Kelly Knowland of Pensacola, Fl., and his sister Robin Knowland of Kokomo, Indiana.

Sandy is a retired Chief petty officer in the US Navy serving from 1973 to 1998 and was currently working as an Analyst for the U.S. government. He is a member of the La Plata United Methodist Church and the La Plata Lions Club.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday September 3, 2011 at 11am at the La Plata United Methodist Church with an interment at the Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the La Plata United Methodist Church P.O. Box 2824 LaPlata, Md. 20646.
