Berniece C. Siebert, 85, El Dorado Springs, passed away on Saturday morning, Nov. 24, 2001, at the Cedar County Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 23, 1916, in Iola, KS, the daughter of Richard G. and Emma C. (Bodin) Hanson.

She was united in marriage to Leo B. Siebert who preceded her death on Feb. 26, 1983.

Before moving to El Dorado Springs in 1974, Berniece worked for Gulf Oil in Overland Park, KS, and later retired from Linn Insurance in Overland Park. After moving to El Dorado Springs, Berniece worked at the International Shoe Company.
She loved flowers and enjoyed spending time in the yard with her flowers. Berniece was a very accomplished pianist and organist and enjoyed music. She loved to read. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.

She is survived by four sons-Lawrence Vern Siebert and his wife, Jenny-El Dorado Springs, Richard Siebert and his wife, Anita-Garland, TX, Bernard Siebert, Topeka, KS and Anthony Siebert-Manhattan, KS; two daughters, Anita Reed, El Dorado Springs, Sally Gembala and her husband, Dutch, Houston, TX; four brothers; Wendell Hanson and his wife, Polly, Idledale, CO, Charles Hanson and his wife, Jeanette, Axtell, KS, Keith Hanson and his wife, Marilyn, Reedsport, OR and Harvey Hanson and his wife, Sheilah, Sacramento, CA; one sister, JoAnn James,and her husband, Bill, Sacramento, CA; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral mass for Berniece Siebert was held on Wednesday morning, Nov. 28, 2001 at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Father Bill Krudwig officiating. Musical selections were provided by Faith Trussell. Interment was in the El Dorado Springs Cemetery under the direction of the Hackleman and Sons Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Dr. Robert Magee, Cecil Mays, Carl Webb, Charles Worthington, Bernard Dobbett and Ray Mundy, Honorary pallbearers were Russell Siebert, Robert Reed, Steve Siebert, Billy Reed, William James, William Siebert, Marc Reed, David Siebert and Monte Morgan.
