He attended Public School 6 and he appears in the 1930 US Census living at 61-63 Concord Avenue in Jersey City. He graduated from Dickinson High School in 1935.

World War II:
Richard enlisted in the United States Army on January 15, 1944 and served in the 384th Ordnance Heavy Maintenance Company at Fort Ord in California during World War II. Jersey Journal on December 14, 1944: "Private Richard C. Freudenberg, 92 Jefferson Avenue, graduated from the track and wheeled vehicle electric course at the Ordnance School, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. Private Freudenberg is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Freudenberg."

First marriage:
He married Jean Christina Tushil (1929-2000) on November 24, 1951 and after a divorce he remarried.

Death:
He died at Hackensack Medical Center at 30 Prospect Avenue in Hackensack of "arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease". Richard was living at 103 Bell Avenue in Hasbrouck Heights when he died. He left a handwritten will dated November 13, 1990.

Richard C. Freudenberg. Richard C. Freudenberg, 75, a Jersey City native, died Sunday in Hackensack Medical Center. Born in Jersey City, he lived in Hasbrouck Heights. He was a stereotyper for the New York-Times in New York City for 40 years before retiring last year. An Army veteran of World War II, he belonged to the National Rifle Association. Surviving are Patricia Cirelli; two sons, John R. and. Robert C.; two daughters, Debra Cruz and Susan Zapoluch; and four grandchildren.
