Graveside services for John Melvin Davis, 72, Tyler, TX, formerly Oklahoma City, will be at 10 am Friday at Rose Hill Cemetery directed by Hahn-Cook, Street & Draper Funeral Home. Davis, a retired school administrator, died Tuesday in Tyler after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Double Springs, AL, same to Oklahoma in 1918, lived in El Paso and moved to Tyler in 1973?. He was employed in schools in western Oklahoma 10 years. He was a 1930 graduate of Southwestern State University and received his masters degree from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles in 1952.
Survivors include his wife, Christine; a son, Thomas S., Houston; two brothers and four sisters; his mother, Mrs Nancy Davis, Yucca, CA; and a grandson. Memorials may be made to the School of Medicine at the University of Southern California.
