Marion Wales Murphy, 91, of 2010 Brushy Creek Rd., passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2011.

Born February 24, 1920 in Union County, SC, he was the son of the late James Layton and Ada Estes Murphy.

He was a retired accountant and was a veteran of the U S Army, having served our country during World War II.

Mr. Murphy was a member of Taylors First Baptist Church.

He was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers.

Surviving is his wife, Clyde Morgan Murphy; his son, James Lawson Murphy of Moscow, ID; his granddaughter, Bethany Murphy of Boston, MA and a brother, Thomas L. Murphy of Seneca, SC.

Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 15, 2011 in Remembrance Mausoleum Chapel at Woodlawn Memorial Park with Dr. Ernest Carswell, Jr. and Rev. Keith Wilks officiating. Private burial will follow in the cemetery.

The family will receive friends following the service in the mausoleum chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be made to Heartland Hospice, Simpsonville, SC or to the Mercy Team of Taylors First Baptist Church.
