Zina Lydia (Zina Lou) B. Brown passed away Monday, February 17, 1997, in Mesa, Arizona, where she has lived for the past seven years with her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and John Porter and their loving family.

She was born in Cardston, Alberta, Canada, July 21, 1909, to Hugh B. and Zina Card Brown. The family moved to Lethbridge in 1921, immigrating to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1927. Three years later, she accepted a call to serve a mission in the North Western States for the LDS Church. An excellent secretary, she held numerous interesting positions in various cities. On September 26, 1941, she married Gaurdello Parry Brown in Pasadena, California where they made their home. Two daughters were born of this union, Zina Elizabeth (Betty), and Mary Francis. Following the death of her husband in 1954, she lived in La Jolla, California. Survivors include her daughter: Zina Elizabeth Brown, Moab, Utah; and Mary B. Porter and husband, John, of Mesa, Arizona; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother, Charles M. Brown (Grace), of St. George, Utah; four sisters, Zola B. Hodson (Waldo), Margaret B. Jorgensen, and Carl B. Sonntag (George, of Salt Lake City; Mary B. Woodward (Ralph), of Provo, Utah. She was preceded in death by a brother, Hugh Card Brown and a sister, LaJune B. Hay.

Funeral services will be held in Mesa Fourth Ward Chapel, 1054 West 2nd Place, Wednesday, February 19, at 12 noon. Burial will be in Pasadena, California.
