A 29-year-old Gaffney man was among four killed on South Carolina roads this weekend, the Highway Patrol reported yesterday. Michael Lipscomb of 824 S. Johnson St., Gaffney, was pronounced dead at the scene after the car in which he was a passenger slammed into a tree, said Cherokee County Coroner Joe Vinesett. The car was driven by James Levie Alexander III of Apartment 3F, Hunnington Square, Gaffney, Vinesett said. Alexander tried to pass another vehicle on Limestone Street but ran the car off the road and into a tree, Vinesett said. The Gaffney Police Department is investigating the accident.
