Eugene Dickey was born in Atlanta, GA. He attended Mercer University, and became a successful attorney in Atlanta. He was a member of the Capital City Club.

Eugene Dickey Dies At 86, Attorney Here Services for Atlanta attorney Eugene Dickey, 86, of 165 West Wesley Road NW will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Oakland Cemetery. Mr. Dickey, a former member of the Atlanta Bar Association, died Tuesday. A native of Atlanta, he attended Boys High School and Georgia Tech before graduating from Mercer University in 1907. At Mercer he played football and was a member of the track team. Mr. Dickey was a lifetime member of the Benevolent Order of the Elks. A son, James L. Dickey III of Columbia, S.C., is a noted poet and the author of "Deliverance," a novel set in the north Georgia mountains. Survivors also include Mr. Dickey's widow; a daughter, Mrs. John J. Hodgins of Sandy Springs, and another son, Thomas Swift Dickey of Atlanta.

DICKEY - Mr. Eugene, of 166 W. Wesley Rd. N.W. died March 12, 1974. Survivine are his wife, daughter, Mrs. John Hodgins, Atlanta, sons, Mr. James L. Dickey III, Columbia, S.C., Mr. Thomas Swift Dickey, Atlanta, five gr a n d-children. Entombment services will be held Wednesday March 13, at 3 o'clock at Oakland, The Very Rev. David B. Collins officiating. As pallbearers: Mr. John V. Hodgins, Mr. John J. Hodgins, Dr. Mitchell C. King, Mr. Willis B. Jones. Dr. Charles S. Jones, Mr. Bryant Jones, Mr. Tom Swift, Mr. Ervin J. Dickey. The Cortege will leave Spring Hill at 2:30 o'clock.
