Robert Samuel "Sammy" Pinkerton Jr., 63, of Plainview passed away Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, in Plainview.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 5, 2011, in Parklawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jeff Taylor, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

Robert was born June 17, 1948, in Plainview to Robert and Ruth Pinkerton Sr. He grew up in Halfway and attended schools in Plainview. He was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army for several years. Robert was a mechanic and worked on cars and trucks. He also worked at the gin for his father. He attended First United Methodist Church. He married Maria Riquelme on Oct. 19, 1973, in Clovis, N.M.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Samuel Pinkerton Sr.; and one son, Robert Christopher Pinkerton.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Riquelme Pinkerton of Florida; two sons, Steven Scott Pinkerton of Mary Esther, Fla., and Richard Alan Pinkerton of DeBerry, Texas; his mother, Ruth Pinkerton of Plainview; one brother, Charles Fain Pinkerton of Anchorage, Alaska; and three grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church, 1001 West Seventh, Plainview, TX 79072.
