1) Julia E. St. John (1842-12/30/1894) in 1862; her parents: Hiram St. John and his wife Lois (_).

2) Josephine M. Brown B-9/1877 NY on 2/1/1899 in Coldwater, Branch, MI. Josephine was 22 and C.D. was 52. Her parents: Chas. Brown and his wife Ada Fowler. No children by this marriage.

2 WARNER children with Julia St. John:

1. Donna Louise Warner (1864-2/3/1928); m. Bernie L. Van Aken D-9/5/1944, on 12/18/1889 in Coldwater, Branch, MI; resided in Coldwater, Branch, MI with one daughter, Lucille.

2. Hiram E. Warner (1869-1932) owned the homestead at Reading, Hillsdale, MI, and was engaged in selling his father's remedies in the states of Ohio and Indiana.

"C.D. was educated at Hillsdale College and Business School, entered the Union Army in 1861, Co. G. MI Cavalry, was honorably discharged for physical disability and resumed his studies; went to the copper mines and was engaged in a contracting business for about ten years, after which he began the manufacture of White Wine of Tar [syrup] and other remedies. He settled in Coldwater in 1889, retaining his farms in Reading [Hillsdale, MI] and mining interests in Mexico."

"Collatinus D. Warner was born in 1840. By 1872 Collatinus would become Dr. Warner. He started manufacturing White Wine of Tar, German Hop Bitters and Blood and Liver Pills. He was located in Reading, Mich. He would go house to house selling his products in the early years. In 1887 Dr. Warner would relocate to Coldwater, Mich.

"Asa Soule the maker of Soule Hop Bitters and Doyle Hop Bitters would sue Dr. Warner for the similarity of their roofed semi-cabin bottles.

"Collatinus D. Warner retired in 1909 at the age of 69. His son Hiram E. Warner who was a salesman for the company would take the company over. Now the company was called Warner's White Wine and Tar. C.D. Warner would die in 1916 at the age of 76 and his son Hiram died in 1932 at the age of 62.

Their best selling product was the White Wine and Tar."

"It was in the 1870`s that Dr. C.D. Warner began in a small way the manufacture of "Dr. Warners White Wine of Tar Syrup" a cough and cold remedy. Later he put a tonic on the market called "Warner Hop Bitters" and the business flourished for several years, but in the 1880s an eastern concern brought suit against Warner for infringement of a copyrighted label and the long fight in the courts crippled his business financially."
