Billy Dale Williams, 86, of Daybrook, died Wednesday, (Aug. 31, 2011) at his residence. He was the son of the late Willie C. Williams and Eva Yost Williams.
He was born June 23, 1925, in Daybrook.
Billy served in the 351st Infantry Regiment of the United States Army between 1942 and 1945. He served in the European Theater for 32 months and was a recipient of the Purple Heart Award. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Croix De Guerre Medal, WW II Victory Ribbon and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon.
Growing up, he attended Daybrook Church of Christ and in later years attended and was baptized in the Daybrook Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Wilma Tennant Williams; two sons and their spouses, Donald L. Williams and his wife Linda of Fairmont and Roger K. Williams and his wife Joyce of Daybrook; one daughter, Deborah Delaney of Fairview; two sisters, Genevieve Saunders of Barrackville and Correll Cummins of Titusville, Fla.; grandchildren, Chad Delaney, Brent Delaney, Daphne (Eric) Mauzy, Jamie (Mark) Ingle and Shannon (Leonard) Rogers; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Brittany Rogers, Morgan Delaney, Jakob Mauzy and Jackson Ingle; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
The family would like to say "thank you" to Hospice Care Corp. employees, and especially Janet Michael, our caregiver.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruby Aldene Williams, Francelia Towles and Ruth Alberta Rush, and one brother, Roy Donald Williams.
Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Freddie Eddy II and Rev. Rose Saunders officiating. Interment will follow in the Williams Cemetery at Daybrook.
