Benjamin was living with his family when he enlisted in the Marines 4 April 1966, at a Oklahoma City Recruiting Office.
Upon arriving in Vietnam 21 November 1968 Benjamin was assigned to Mike Company, 3rd Battalion, 26th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division.
The battalion was participating in Operation Taylor Common when Mike Company was engaged by hostile forces 5 kilometers west northwest of the Liberty Bridge. Benjamin died as a result of a
gunshot wound to the head from hostile machine gun fire.
Survived by his parents, Forest A and Bonnie E Bolding and 2 siblings, Carol and Danny of 306 W Lilac Lane, Midwest City, OK.

Awarded the Silver Star Medal.
