WENDELL G. CAREY
Wendell G. Carey of 203 Dewey St., died Friday at Putnam Memorial Hospital. He was 80.
He was born Aug 3, 1893, son of George and Fannie (Waite) Carey. His education had been in local schools.
Mr. Carey was married to the former Harriet Manney and they had two daughters who survive, Mrs. Leland (Geraldine) March and Mrs. Ramona Craddock, both of Bennington. Also suriving is his second wife, the former Caroline Hewitt. He had four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A lifelong resident of the Bennington area, he was employed for many years as a supply clerk at the E-Z Mills in Bennington. Since his retirement there he had been a janitor for other mills.
He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Bennington, also a Silver Star member of the Hoosick Grange. He belonged to the Bennington Senior Citizens and the American Association of Retired Persons.
A funeral service will be held at the First Methodist Church in Bennington Monday at 11 am. Burial will be in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
The family will be in attendance at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Bennington Rescue Squad through the funeral home office.
