Edith Anne Valin

Edith passed away peacefully at the Q.E.II Hospital in Grande Prairie with her family by her side on October 11, 2009 at the age of 87. Edith was born at The Flyingshot Lake Settlement near Grande Prairie, Alberta on November 15, 1921 to James and Lily Tissington. Edith married Elmer Valin on June 16, 1942. They raised 6 children, Anne (Len) Scarrow, Theona (Vic) Auclair, Jim (Gerrene) Valin, Dwight (Darlene) Valin, Debbie (Gene) Gitzel and Colleen (Glenn) Fells.
Edith was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Elmer in 1997, daughter-in-law Linda Valin, grandson Keith Scarrow and son-in-law Vic Auclair and her brothers Gerard, Bernard, Wallace, and Jim and sisters Lois and Winnie. Edith is survived by her brothers, Ken (Nan) Tissington in Chilliwack, BC and Sid (Evelyn) Tissington of Grimshaw/Valleyview, Alberta, her six children, eighteen grandchildren and thirty-two great grandchildren. Her interests were gardening, playing cards and other games. Family gatherings were a top priority for her. She will be sadly missed by all. Funeral service for Edith will be held on Saturday, October 17 at 1:00 p.m. at Oliver's Grande Prairie Funeral Chapel. Interment is to follow at the Grande Prairie Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Edith's name to the Grande Prairie Care Center, or to a charity of one's' choice.
