Frank West Ellis, III was born May 13, 1943 in Greenwood, Ms. His parents were Nancy Franklin Shultz Ellis of Greenwood and Frank West Ellis, Jr. of Hattiesburg, MS. He attended public school in Greenwood and later Yazoo City, MS where he graduated from high school. He played high school basketball and was an All State percussionist with the Lions State Band. He attended the University of Southern Mississippi on a basketball scholarship and served as the president of the M Club Athletic Association. He later enlisted in the United States Army where he fought in the War in Vietnam. After an honorable discharge, he went to work for Fluor Oil Company on an off-shore drilling rig and later became a sales representative for that company. In subsequent years he worked for a number of heavy equipment companies until his retirement in 2005. He leaves behind a wife and two children, as well as two sisters, Barbara Tomcheck of Colleyville, TX and Beverly Nations of Brookhaven, MS in addition to two nieces and two nephews. He also leaves a special cousin and her family, Nancy Hagan and her husband Gene, and another dear family friend, Mary Brister of Yazoo City, MS. He had many, many friends from MS, AL, and a group from Arlington, TX with whom he had daily coffee get-togethers. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Grand Prairie.
