Mary Ellen Birchall Frame was a native of England, wife, homemaker, mother, and thoughtful parent and neighbor. She was born May 30, 1867 in Liverpool, England, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Bridge) Birchall. She along with two siblings was raised in Liverpool, England and Glasgow, Scotland.

Mary Ellen immigrated to Canada in 1885, at the age of 18. In Canada, Mary Ellen met George Frame, son of Thomas and Marion (Cullen) Frame. Thomas was born March 4, 1864 in Larkhall, Scotland and immigrated to Canada in 1885. Mary Ellen and George were married on May 24, 1889 in Hastings, Northumberland, Ontario, Canada. While there, they farmed northeast of Toronto and two of their four children were born, Thomas Henry and Marion Isabella. In 1894 they moved their family to Castle Rock, Minnesota where they continued to farm, and children George Jr and Nellie May were born. In 1910, Mary Ellen and George moved their family to a 120 acre farm they purchased near the Cannon River in Sciota Township, south of Randolph, Minnesota.

Mary Ellen died August 16, 1928 at the age of 61 in Sciota Township, Dakota County, Minnesota. Mary Ellen and George had been married 39 years. George died February 12, 1947 at the age of 83 in Bismarck, North Dakota. Mary Ellen was survived by one sister, her husband, four children, and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother.

Both George and Mary Ellen are interred in Acacia Park Cemetery, Mendota Heights, Minnesota.

Mary Ellen was remembered in a Cannon Falls Beacon 08/24/1928 obituary as "her kind and loving thoughtfulness of others was always uppermost in her mind."
