A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 11, at Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens in Moultrie. The Rev. Winston Baker will officiate.
He was born Sept. 15, 1925, in Baldwin County, Ga., and was the son of the late Joel Emmett Watson and Julia Frances Johnson Watson. He was owner of a nursery and greenhouse until his retirement in 1984. After retiring he could not quit working and started his own lawn care business in Moultrie. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a Mason.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Byrd Watson; sister, Nancy Nelms; and brother, Frank Watson.
Survivors include two daughters, Danette Watson of Dillon, Mont., and Lisa and Glenn Watson of Winter Haven, Fla.; one son, Alan and Lisa Watson of Davenport, Fla.; one sister, Mary Gross of Newcastle, Ind.; four grandchildren, Jackie Garton, Will Garton, Dennis Garton and Breanna Watson; and several nieces and nephews.
