John grew up in Tuscaloosa Alabama. He went to Tuscaloosa University where he received his degree in geology. He joined the Army not too long after graduating from High School. He was soon sent to Vietnam as a gunner on a Chinook Helicopter. He also received a Bronze Star. On returning home from the war he married his sweetheart Jacqueline in August of 1967. They had one child together a daughter, Elizabeth born August of 1982. John leaves behind his daughter, a brother Jim and sister Carol. He left us way too soon and is missed very much.
