Evelyn H. "Evee" McGough, 88, McGough Lane, Dysart, died Friday at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg.
She was born in Patton, daughter of the late Peter and Cecelia (Long) Holtz.
Surviving are six children: Donna of Skippack, James in California, Dennis (Starr Bell) of Coulterville, Calif., and Peter (Martina McNulty), Gerald (Patty Bobby) and Lynne Thomas (Rick), all of Dysart; five grandchildren: Kristen McGough, Scott Della Valle (Missy Miller), Erin McGough Sherry (Doug), Garett Thomas (Melanie Bernazzoli) and Mitchell Thomas; five great-grandchildren: Parker and McKenna Sherry and Taylor, Tori and Teagan Della Valle; three sisters: Loretta Safko of Hollidaysburg, Hilda Wills of Altoona and Louise Byrne of Ebensburg; two sisters-in-law: Florence Holtz in Florida and Mary Louise Holtz of Patton RD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, on Sept. 7, 2011; a son, Gregory Jay; and 11 siblings: Bernard, Regis, Dorothy Greiner, Betty Elliott, Rose Farabaugh, Anna Marie Carlson, Rita Bender, Raymond, Ralph, Cleophas and Kenneth.
Evee worked as a florist and owned McGough Greenhouse for many years. She also worked as a rural mail carrier. She was a life member of the Patton Garden Club and served as president for several terms and was a member of Women's Aglow Fellowship, American Artists Professional League, Johnstown Chrysanthemum Society, Rural Letter Carriers' Association Auxiliary and St. Augustine Catholic Church.
She enjoyed gardening, quilting, painting and photography.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at Gibbons Funeral Home, Ashville, where a vigil service will be held Sunday afternoon. A funeral Mass will be celebrated for Evee and her husband, Paul, at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, the Rev. Joseph Fleming as celebrant. Committal will be in the church cemetery.
