Cecil's first job was at the Cass County Bank in Peculiar, Missouri. To secure this job he offered to work for free and was eventually hired on as a full-time employee. Later he joined the staff of the Fidelity National Bank and Trust Company in Kansas City, Missouri.
Cecil married Irma Montaldo (Roach) Brockhouse (1894 - 1991) on October 23, 1915 at her father's house at 512 Benton, Kansas City, Missouri. Cecil and Irma had three children: Richard Allen Brockhouse (1918-1991), Betty Ann (Brockhouse) Hill (1922-2006), and Bobby Arno Brockhouse (1922-1997).
After his marriage, Cecil worked for the Mutual Bank and Sterling Bank, which merged with the Mercantile in 1933. In 1941, he was made vice-president of the Mercantile Bank. he continued in this position until 1956 when he retired.
He was also a member and trustee of the Independence Boulevard Christian Church (IBCC); a past president of the Kansas City chapter of the American Institute of Banking; a member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club; a former treasurer of Goodwill Industries and Heart of America Tuberculosis Society; a member of Ararat Shrine; the Treasurer for Research Hospital's Board of Directors; and a member of the Draft Board during World War II.
For his service to the city, Cecil was given the key to Kansas City, Missouri by Mayor Roe Bartle on December 10, 1955. On May 6, 1959, IBCC honored Cecil with the title of "Deacon of Esteem."
He passed away at his home on September 13, 1960 from a heart attack (generalized atherosclerosis due to diabetes according to the death certificate). He was entombed in the Forest Hill Pantheon on September 15, 1960.
