Stella Marie McDonald of Elkton, died Friday, March 14, 2008, at her home.

Mrs. McDonald was born in Rockingham County, Va., and was a daughter of the late Austin and Fannie Lam Dean.

She attended Maple Spring School and was a member of the Blue Ridge Independent Church. She was a homemaker and had been employed at Blue Bell in Elkton for 12 years and at Alliance (now Genie) for nine years.

Survivors include her husband, Lathan Eugene McDonald, whom she married July 21, 1945; two sons, Steve E. McDonald and A. Wayne McDonald; three daughters, Linda "Diane" Smiley, Joyce E. Turner and Sandy K. Hammer; three brothers, Harry Dean, Norman Dean and Willard Dean; and a sister, Edith Moubray, all of Elkton; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Gerald Meeks will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Monday at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.

Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
