Funeral services were held today in the Lockart & Sons Funeral Home, Cowden, with burial in Mound Cemetery, Cowden.
Mr. Bird was born Sept. 10, 1925, in Shelby County, the son of Frank and Cleo Prater Bird. He married Belva R. Rich May 14, 1948, in Shelbyville. She survives.
Also surviving are a son, J.B. Bird Jr. of Edwards; daughter, Mrs. Bill (Kathy Lynn) Tennison of Gatesville, Texas; sisters, Mrs. Emil (Evelyn) Ferrero of Pompano Beach, Fla., June Evans of Ocoee, Fla. and Hester Bryant of Claypoole, Ariz.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, two brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Bird served in World War II as a Marine. He was a farmer and later worked fr Caterpillar, Inc. for 23 years. He was a former Kiwanis member in Washington and was a member of U.A.W.974.
