He served as a teacher in his rural area of Franklin county at Asgkey, Indiana, and served as Superintendent of schools in Ashley for four years, and similar positions at Butler and Waterloo, both in Indiana. He came to Wiley High School from a superintendency at Alexandria, Indiana.
1908 - 1911 He and his wife were teachers in the Philippine Islands.
1927 - 1950 Principal of Wiley High School in Terre Haute Indiana.
