Reburial Rites Sunday for Maurice Gene Boutell

The remains of Seaman First Class Maurice Gene Boutell were taken to the Schnackenberg runeral home last Thursday morning upon arrival here with Machinist's Mate O. Brant from Columbus, Ohio, as military escort.

Maurice was previously buried in Palmero, Sicily. He was killed in an air raid in Sicily August 1, 1943.

A son of Mr. and Mrs. Clillord Boutell of Lannen road near Oak Grove, he was born August 25, 1925 in Deerfield township. He left Howell high school to enlist the day after his 17th birthday. After completion of boot training at the Great Lakes Naval Training Station, he was sent to Norfolk, Va.,for amphibious training. Previous to his death he had participated in the invasion of Sicily.

Survivors besides the parents are five brothers and five sisters: Harold of Linden, Kenneth of Oak Grove, Stanley of Howell, Lavern of Ortonville, Clayton of Howell, Mrs. Margery Ling and Mrs. Arlene Ling of Flint, Miss Ethel Boutell of Howell, Miss Velma Boutell of Flint and Miss Doris Boutell of Howell.

Funeral services were from the Schnackenberg funeral home Sunday, August 15, with Reverend J. B. Wallace officiating. The five brothers and Ralph Rider were pallbearers. Burial was at Lakeview cemetery with military rites.
