US Congressman. He attended Fairfield Academy (1810-11), graduated from Union College, in 1816, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1819 and commenced the practice of law at Fort Plain, New York. He also engaged in agricultural pursuits and banking. In 1839, he was elected as a Whig to the Twenty-sixth Congress, serving until 1841. After his term, he continued the practice of law at Fort Plain, New York, until he retired in 1873.
