Daughter of William Luther Wade and Leanna Smyth Wade. She had five sisters, Oleta, Dorotha, Adel, Wanema and Ella Dean. Two brothers, Henry and Marvin, who died at the age of one.
Stufona was born while the family was living on Wade's Mountain. She attended school in Brewer thought the 6th grade and then attended in Savanna.
Stufona taught elementary school in Pittsbury County.
She lived with her mother, Leanna and took care of her until she passed away. Married George L. Akins in 1963 in Oklahoma City. George and Shufona went together for many years, but Stufona put her life on hold and stayed and took care of her. George and Stufona had no children but many nices and nephews who they loved dearly.
