Mrs. M.E. Stewart Dies at Age of 74
Mrs. Matilda Elizabeth Stewart, died at a local hospital yesterday at 5:30 p.m. after an illness. She was 74.
Mrs. Stewart was a native of Red Bluff, but had lived near Susanville for 57 years. She belonged to the First Baptist Church of Standish.
She is survived by her husband, Charles M. Stewart, and two brothers, Charles E. and Elmer Hooks, all of Susanville, a sister, Mrs. Lena McCallister, Fernley, Nev., nine nieces and nine nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Owen Funeral Chapel Friday, Jan. 8 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Maurice L. Wilcox, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, officiating, Interment will follow at Lassen Cemetery.
