Topeka State Journal Tuesday 21 May, 1974, pg. 17:

Services will be Friday at Mount Hope Abbey for Allen Foster Free, 91, Miami, Fla., who died Monday at a Miami hospital following a short illness.

He was born February 21, 1883 at Abilene and had lived in Miami six months, moving from Washington, D.C. He was an assistant to the vice president of the Association of American Railroads before he retired in 1954.

He was a member of Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church, Fossils Club and Newcomers Club, all at Washington, D.C., Orient Lodge No. 51, AF&AM, Topeka, York Rite bodies and Almos Shrine.

He was married to Elise Gades in 1917 at Topeka. She survives at the home. Other survivors include a son, Allen Frederick Free, Miami; a daughter, Mrs. Elise Kelso, Hamden, Conn.; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
