Kenneth N. Steffen, 69, of New Holstein, died Thursday afternoon, May 1, 1997 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Feb. 23, 1928 in the town of Charlestown, son of the late Frank and Veronica Seichter Steffen.
On Sept. 20, 1951 he married Rosemary Turba at St. Ann Catholic Church in St. Anna. Kenney was employed at Kohler Company for 27 years, retiring in 1993. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein, the Holy Name Society, New Holstein American Legion Post 124, St. Ann Redmen, and Kohler Quarter Century Club.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary; four children, David (Linda) Steffen, Elkhart Lake, Sandra (Jeffrey) Ditter, New Holstein, Dale Steffen and Daniel Steffen, both of New Holstein; five grandchildren, Angela, Kari and Eric Steffen, Nicole and Jessica Ditter; three brothers, Leander (Mary) Steffen, Sheboygan Falls, Allen (Sandra) Steffen, Kiel, and Arlyn (Luann) Steffen, rural New Holstein. He is further survived by one brother-in-law, Alois Heimann, rural New Holstein and two sisters-in-law, LaVern Steffen, rural New Holstein and Audrey (William) Mertens, Kiel.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon, three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral Mass was held Saturday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, New Holstein, with the Rev. Patrick Lloyd S.C.J. as officiant. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
