Michael Larchick, 77, long time resident of Sherman county, passed away at the local hospital the evening of March 27, following a brief illness. While having been in failing health for some time, he had not been ill until a few hours before his death, when he was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Mr. Larchick was born in Poland Sept. 29, 1869, and came to this country with his parents when about six years of age. The family located at Pittsburgh, Pa., and a few years later came to Nebraska locating at Paplin in Howard county.
He was united in marriage to Agnes Bauiac [sic], at Paplin, in October, 1888, and to this union eleven children were born, all of whom survive.
Their early married life was spent at Paplin, and later they moved to the Ashton community. From there they moved to a farm west of Loup city where they lived until retiring from the farm to move to Loup City about ten years ago.
Mr. Larchick is survived by his wife, seven daughters, Mrs. John Haffner of Glendale, Calif., Mrs. John Klatka of Alliance, Mrs. Leo Waskowiac of Burbank, Calif., Mrs. John Spotanski of Ashton, Mrs. Frank Derdoski, Mrs. Joe Sobieszczyk and Mrs. T. A. Gezehoviak of Loup City; four sons, Edward of Hazard, John, Joe, and Stanley of Loup City; one brother, Bruno L. of Cheyenne, Wyo. Three sisters, Mrs. John Skibinski of Grand Island, Mrs. Frank Skibinski and Mrs. John Baker of Loup City; sixty grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday morning from St. Josaphat church in charge of Rev. Henry Bednarczyk. Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased. Interment was in St. Josaphat cemetery.
