George W Newsom, 83, passed away at his home at Rt. 1 Box 374, Lindsay, Saturday morning following a short illness. He was a native of Mississippi and had lived in the Porterville area since 1938. Funeral services are pending at Myers Chapel. Surviving are two daughters, Mre Reva Kent and Mrs Edith Simmons of Newbury, Ark.; two sons, Marvin and Glenn Newsom of Porterville; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Obiturary ran in the Porterville Recorder, Sat. Oct. 26, 1957. He was buried Oct. 29, 1957
