Alvin Ray Reel, 83, of Kings Mountain, died peacefully on September 11, 2011, at Meadowwood Nursing Center in Gastonia. He was born on August 22, 1928 in Lincoln County to the late Carl Luther Daniel and Ocie Bryte Long Reel.

Alvin served in the US Army in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of New Life Family Worship Center in Kings Mountain and was a prayer warrior whose prayers will be greatly missed. His family wishes to thank Gaston Hospice and the staff at Meadowwood Nursing Center for their loving care of Alvin. He was a wonderful husband, father and papa who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

FUNERAL SERVICE: New Life Family Worship Center with Dr. Robert Eng officiating.

VISITATION: One hour before the service at the church

INTERMENT: Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia, with military honors.

SURVIVORS: wife of 44 years, Carolyn Kindschi Reel; sons, Herschel Reel of Iron Station, Dr. Stephen Reel and wife Melanie of Simpsonville, SC, David Reel and wife Denise of Rockingham; brother, William Reel of Kings Mountain; sisters, Mary Deese of Rock Hill, SC, Carolyn Parker of Lincolnton, Glenda Ellis of Rock Hill; grandchildren, Christopher, Anna, Rebecca, Matthew, Melissa, and Shane Reel and Emily Jones and husband Jeff; great-granddaughters, Kaley and Shelby Reel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
