Young Nicoline ("Kina") worked for a while in Sweden as a seamstress. Five days after her marriage to Otto Paulson in September of 1892, he emigrated to America and she stayed with her family in Grebbestad. After Otto was settled with a job and a place to live, she emigrated herself in August of 1894 and they lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where there was a growing Swedish community at the Augustana Lutheran Church (today's Faith Lutheran Church in Cambridge).
