He was born in Hartford City and came to Muncie at an early age. He attended Muncie elementary schools and Central High School.
Mr. Dale was a partner with Robert Heath in the ownership and management of Delaware Beverage Company for many years prior to his retirement. Earlier he was an engineer with the Indiana State Highway Commission and was Muncie city deputy engineer. He was a member of Elks Lodge 245.
Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Glen (Jean) Howard, Muncie; his son, George R. "Skip" Dale III, Delphi; three sisters, Mrs. Lester (Elizabeth) Holloway, Mrs. John (Martha) Morgan, and Mrs. Simon (Virginia) Smilac, all of Muncie; two brothers, Daniel R. Dale, Fort Wayne, and Jack Dale, Muncie; and three grandchildren.
His father was mayor of Muncie from 1930 until 1935. His wife, Marjorie Heath Dale, died in 1977.
Services will be at Meeks Mortuary at 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Calling hours are at the mortuary from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and prior to the services Monday.
