Mrs. Harriet Eula Martin, 94, who had made Silver City her home for the past 26 years, died last Thursday at Hillcrest General Hospital. Mrs. Martin, a native of Bosque, TX, was married to William Henry Martin at Carlisle, N.M., now Steeplerock, and the couple maintained ranching interests in Sierra County until Mr. Martin's retirement in 1940, when they came to Grant County. Mr. Martin preceded his wife in death in 1945. For the past 23 years, Mrs. Martin has made her home with daughter, Mrs. Grace Cummings. She was quite active and alert, and was an avid gardener until the last year when the infirmities of old age curtailed her favorite hobby. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors of Mrs. Martin include five sons, C. C. Martin of Benson, Ariz. ,James A. Martin of Los Angeles, Calif., William and Ed Martin of Silver City, and Wesley Martin of Santa Rita; three daughters, Mrs. Cummings of Silver City, Mrs. Sea Somny of Calimesa, Calif., and Mrs. Edna Ruth Hogue of Ontario, Calif.; five grandsons and six great-grandchildren; one brother, John Casper of Pima, Ariz.; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Adams and Mrs. Dee Ida Moses, both of Inglewood, Calif. The funeral services were held Saturday in the chapel of the Curtis Mortuary, Rev. James G. Wayne officiating. Burial was In the Masonic Cemetery.
