He then went to Cleveland, Ohio. He came to Ripon in 1862. He has been in the jewelery business ever since. At Norfolk he was prominent in the church and community, and he was a member of the Conn. legislature for one term. He was mayor here of Ripon for one term in 1873 and served his church (Congregational) here in many capacities.
