"At the age of 18 Orlo went to Amherst College for one year. He then went to Norfolk, Conn. where he learned the jewelers trade. He established a prosperous business which he conducted until 1860. He then went to Cleveland, Ohio. He came to Ripon in 1862. He has been in the jewelery business ever since. At Norfolk he was prominent in the church and community, and he was a member of the Conn. legislature for one term. He was mayor here of Ripon for one term in 1873 and served his church (Congregational) here in many capacities. He married a sister of Edward Ensign (his 2nd wife Ellen) who survived him until Nov. 27, 1889. They had no children." Quoted from records at the Ripon Library, Ripon Wisc. Orlo's Grandfather, Samuel Wolcott 11-15-1736 - 8-24-1824 was a veteran of The American Revolution. Ancestor #A127434. He was a member of The Sons of The American Revolution SAR #24816. His 5th Great Grand father Henry Wolcott 12-5-1578 - 5-30-1655 and his wife Elizabeth Saunders Wolcott 1584 - 7-1655 sailed aboard the vessel "The Mary and John" with other families from England landing in Boston Harbor in 1630. They were amoung the founding families of Windsor, Conn.
