Wed to Matilda G. Ehringhaus Bradford. Bart was a merchant who enlisted as private with the State Guards on 4 May 1861 at Elizabeth City. After being appointed Sergeant Major in November, he was captured at Roanoke Island on 8 February 1862. He was released on parole in about two weeks and left the service in March.
