John is the son of Henry Horatio Griffin and Nettie Iola Eppison.

 John is named after his paternal grandfather John Alexander "Jesse" Griffin, and his maternal grandfather James Columbus Eppison.

Services for John Griffin, brother of Oscar Griffin, Elk City, will be held at 2 p. m. Friday from the Lone Oak Baptist church, northwest of Sayre.

Mr. Griffin, who lived in Oklahoma City, died at his home Tuesday from a heart attack.

Rites Held Friday


Services for John C. Griffin, employee of the Biltmore hotel dining room in Oklahoma City, and brother of Oscar Griffin, Elk City, were held at 2 p. m. Friday from the Lone Oak Baptist church with Rev. H. P. Elliott, Elk City, and Rev. V. E. Tinsley officiating.

Born April 15, 1800, in Texas, Mr. Griffin died unexpectedly of a heart attack in Oklahoma City Tuesday, Jan. 31.

Mr. Griffin came to Beckham county in 1914 and settled in the New Liberty community where he resided until 1941(sic) when he moved it to Sayre. In 1945 be moved to Oklahoma City. He had been a member of the Lone Oak Baptist at church since 1927.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Raymond Green, Sayre, and Mrs. Ruby McCrady, Palco, Kan.; three brothers, Oscar of Elk City; Jess of Hoisington, Kan.; and Sterling of Udall, Kan.

Casketbearers were Lewis Lowrance, Pat Burrow, Bugs Fairless, Uncas Ely, W. R. Farrell and Clyde Murphy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two sisters and one brother.

Burial was in Lone Oak cemetery under direction of Moore funeral home, Sayre.
